Count connected exposure

Employer risk can affect current income, future compensation, benefits, career prospects, and investment assets at the same time. Record public or private status, trading restrictions, liquidity windows, and tax liabilities tied to the shares.

Use more than the quoted share value. Private-company marks may not represent a price available to the employee.

  • Employment income
  • Vested and unvested equity
  • Exercised shares
  • Exercise or tax cash
  • Liquidity limits

Stress the joint event

Model a company value decline together with job loss, delayed liquidity, or a closed trading window. The goal is to understand dependence, not predict one price.

Define review triggers such as vesting, exercise deadlines, tender offers, material price changes, and household cash needs.

Verification checkpoint

Run a scenario where employer value falls while employment income stops and identify every cash need and unavailable asset.
